Dear Parents,

Welcome to Kindergarten here at Springfield Elementary and to my class. I am anticipating a successful and happy year with your children.

Please plan on being at the Kindergarten Parent Meeting on Friday, August 8 at

10:00 a. m. We will meet in our classroom. My room number is 616. At that time, I will briefly describe the parent/student handbook, the kindergarten program, my classroom rules and procedures, and answer any questions you may have.

Your child has a special time to meet with me. During our time together we will get to know each other, put supplies in designated areas, and I will administer the entrance test, The Brigance Test for Kindergartners. I use this test to get to know your child and where (s)he should begin their learning in my kindergarten class. All children learn differently and I will accommodate those needs. Please remember to bring his/her supplies on the day of the entrance test.

While your child and I meet for the test, I will have an Information Packet for you to fill out. Information you may need to bring for this packet is:

*Name and telephone number of person or persons who can pick your child up

from school

*Child’s doctor and telephone number

*Social security numbers for free and reduced lunch forms

*Bus/car information (Will your child ride a bus or be a car rider?)

August 11-13, I will be meeting with individual children for their testing times. On Thursday, August 14, only Boys will attend a whole day of school. On Friday, August 15, only Girls will attend a whole day of school. On Monday August 18 ALL kindergarten students will begin full day attendance. These steps are taken to ensure that your child feels safe and secure getting to and from school, as well as, while being with me in the school setting.
